Aperture is an important and beneficial tool. The aperture determines how much light is allowed into the lens. Aperture changes the depth of field in a photo. With a higher aperture more of the photo is in focus and a lower aperture part of the photo is focused while the rest is blurred. Similarly shutter speed can have the same effect but with moving objects. Shutter speed determines the amount of time light is let in.
